Few rifles have seen as much history—or survived it—as the Mosin Nagant 91/30. Built for war, hardened by conflict, and preserved through generations, it’s a firearm that holds a unique place in military history and in the collections of enthusiasts worldwide.
More than just a surplus bolt-action rifle, the Mosin Nagant is a relic of two centuries—carried by Tsarist troops, Soviet soldiers, and Cold War reservists. Today, it serves a new role: as a tangible link to the past.
From Empire to Revolution
The Mosin Nagant story begins in Imperial Russia in 1891, born from a design competition that merged elements from Russian officer Sergei Mosin and Belgian designer Léon Nagant. The resulting rifle, chambered in 7.62x54R, would go on to serve through multiple wars, revolutions, and global upheavals.
By the time the 91/30 variant arrived in 1930, Russia had become the Soviet Union—and war clouds were once again gathering over Europe.
The 91/30 on the Eastern Front
The Mosin Nagant 91/30 was the standard infantry rifle of the Soviet Red Army during World War II. It played a central role in the brutal battles of the Eastern Front—from the frozen trenches of Stalingrad to the desperate defense of Leningrad.
It wasn’t refined, but it was reliable. Famed Soviet sniper Vasily Zaitsev helped cement its reputation, using a scoped 91/30 to devastating effect during the Battle of Stalingrad.
A Collector’s Time Machine
Today’s collectors seek out Mosins not just for their affordability but for the stories they carry. Matching serial numbers, wartime arsenal marks, and original finish all add to the appeal.
At Florida Pawn & Gun, we currently have two examples available:
- A clean 91/30 with all matching serials, in excellent post-war condition
- A historically significant 1941 Izhevsk Mosin Nagant, also with matching numbers and its original sling—produced during the first brutal months of the Nazi invasion

These aren’t just firearms—they’re preserved history.
